Abstract
This study validates and tests the accuracy of a smart mobile phone's sensor for the determination of the acceleration due to gravity in the physics lab (g ), comparing it to the results obtained from the oscillations of a simple pendulum. The equipment was validated by applying several tests, which suggest that the smart mobile phone's accelerometer is a valid and accurate sensor for use in laboratory experiments of Physics and/or Mechanics. Keywords
