Is Extended Reality a valid tool to incorporate into the educational field? Has it been enriched by the prior use of other technological resources? What educational strategies are implicit in the design, creation and production of objects in extended reality?

In the early years of the century, various emerging technologies (semantic web, gamification, cloud computing, learning analytics, MOOC, the Internet of Things, augmented reality...), are developing strong momentum due to various events such as the growing importance of Web 2.0, cost reduction of equipment, and the widespread use of mobile devices, among others. One of these emerging technologies is known as 'Extended Reality' (XR), which has emerged as a technology with a significant impact on educational institutions and universities.

Over the last few years, the educational sector has been incorporating both augmented reality and virtual reality, viewing these tools as additional possibilities to develop new teaching and learning strategies with students. Therefore, Extended Reality provides the ability to create and add virtually developed information with the understanding and control of a real environment, offering the potential to generate fully immersive virtual experiences, either through the production of 3D-designed objects or the use of 360º video formats.

It is important to note that a growing number of national and international studies and research publications on the educational possibilities of Extended Reality help us understand the significance of these resources in enhancing academic achievements.
