Abstract

In the era of the new technologies, the most traditional didactic resources are still needed to motivate children and to assist them with the teaching-learning process. These resources, developed within active and globalized methodologies, can enhance the development of different basic learning skills, encouraging pupils to interact and cooperate. In this article, we point out and analyse some activities dealing with the elaboration and didactic benefits of murals and posters in Primary Education, which are related to different scientific topics. Moreover, in this article we detail and evaluate an experience carried out in a Primary School located at the Comunidad de Madrid during two consecutive academic years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011, where we elaborated scientific murals with pupils of the first cycle. With this experience we highlight the convenience of directing the initial and permanent training of teachers towards the introduction of organizational strategies and cooperative methodologies to ensure significant and functional scientific learning of children, as well as to cope with pupil diversity in our classes.
