Abstract

The growing interest in the study of gender on one hand and the influence of polítics in our present society on the other, has made us approach this analysis from the sociolinguistics and pragmatics perspective. He have based our research on some Parliamentary debates taking place in the British Parliament in the year 2003 to see if there is real gender discrimínation in the política! discourse, and in which way this can be considered as a mere reflection of what happens in the social structure which at the same time projects this type of díscrimination in poli tics creating a vicíous circle difficult to break.
