Discourse analysis of manifestations of violence in a digital newspaper corpus

Abstract
The analysis of media discourse has now tools that provide quantitative empirical analyses that are more documented than the traditional analyses. The lexical analysis of discursive co-occurrences provides interesting data that allow the interpretation of how discourses are constructed. We will focus on the use of corpus linguistics as an instrument for discourse analysis, as both disciplines currently present a methodology appropriate for the interpretation of discourses as auxiliary in the analysis and interpretation of certain significant phenomena. For this, we will use specific corpora that provide data on the discursive use of the units analysed. We will examine certain manifestations of violence in journalistic texts which have specific terms in English and in Spanish that do not always coincide.
