The nominal group as a predicative structure
Abstract
Predication has always been an issue of great interest to linguists, whatever their theoretical persuasion. It must be said, however, that this is an area in which controversy arises due to the number of different parameters that have been used to characterise this phenomenon. In this paper we shall review some of the proposals concerning this question as found in the literature. Specifically, we shall discuss the repercusions of each of these proposals on one of the more popular topics among linguists at present, namely the possibility of viewing the noun phrase as a predicative structure.
