Abstract

In Éducation démocratique. La révolution scolaire à venir, sociologist Christian Laval and educational psychologist Francis Vergne, through a detailed examination of the current state of education, conclude that the crisis affecting the entire education system cannot be managed vertically. According to the authors, in order to increase forms of democratic participation, limit inequalities, make the earth more habitable and, above all, provide an environment of coexistence, ‘the old world order must be brought to an end’. Breaking with the old world order inevitably leads to a social, democratic and ecological revolution that must overcome the logic of the capitalist system and establish a new social and ecological democracy.
