Abstract
In Psychopolitics: Neoliberalism and New Techniques of Power, Byung-Chul Han carries out a critical analysis of the transformations that are produced by neoliberalism in bearings related to mechanisms and tools of control. Throughout thirteen chapters, the author explores and questions the efficacy of digital-era mechanism. From the very beginning, he introduces the logic behind the establishment of positivist dynamics, suggesting that its function is to create a false illusion of freedom that passively keeps the population under control, being the most efficient form of domination.
In his work, Han reflects on the true utility of technological advancements and the widespread use of digital spheres, as these are being used and positively valued by the system mainly because they enable a state of constant self-surveillance on every user, as they voluntarily share their personal data. The resulting flow of data and statistical information allows for predictive processes that anticipate individual singularities, enabling the manipulation of people trough their interest and desires.
