Abstract
Over the years, especially from the 1960s onwards, the figure of Ṭāhar al-Ḥaddād has been revalued and hailed as one of the key pieces for the feminist, trade unionist and nationalist movements in Tunisia. To a greater or lesser extent, his works have been studied, commented on and translated into languages such as English, French or German, thus spreading his most important proposals, such as the abolition of polygyny or the fight against seclusion. However, despite these studies, certain gaps remain, some of them quite important, with respect to his biography. Many of the studies on the author present inconsistent dates or conflicting data. Being an author whose personal experiences are decisive to contextualize and adequately interpret his production, it is not a trivial matter. For this reason, I consider it important to review what we know about the author's life and try to compile his biography with the most up-to-date sources in such a way that it serves to better analyse and understand his literary, political and social reform contributions.
