Abstract

This paper tries to justify the necessity of Education for Sustainability into the teachers’ training curriculum. With this purpose we analyze its incorporation into the Spanish compulsory Master for Secondary Teachers’ Training, we discuss some difficulties that are hindering the effectiveness of this incorporation and describe strategies that can be used to overcome the obstacles faced. As part of this study, we dedicate a special attention to the recent and revolutionary emergence of a new field of knowledge, the Sustainability Science, trying to show the essential role plaid by education in its powerful development.
