The quotation as a turn: reconstructed dialogue in oral Spanish from the perspective of corpus pragmatics
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyse constructed dialogues in spoken discourse; first, their structure and organization; and then, their relation with certain social variables. These sequences, formed by quotations which represent past, possible or imaginary dialogues in a rough and non-literal way, are contextually and pragmatically dependent by nature. Basing on an analysis of two corpora of oral Spanish, the present study accomplishes with the need of examining language- in-use structures in real spoken language, thus emphasizing the advantages of Corpus Pragmatics to deal with highly- contextual phenomena. Keywords
