Linguistic strategies for the mitigation of petitions in Galician

Abstract

Based on data collected through dramatization techniques –namely role plays–, this paper tries to analyze the communicative strategies preferred by Galician speakers in order to carry out directive speech acts (such as requests) which can threaten the public image of the speaker and the listener.
