Abstract
Speech acts theory states that understanding an utterance requires comprehension of the illocutionary act thatit performs. Sperber and Wilson (1986) disagree with this statement; however, both accounts lack of evidence;leaving the problem unresolved. Illocutionary force markers result from metalinguistic operations and this factis related to relevance theory for these markers restrict possible interpretations of the utterance. However, toconsider that the hearer apprehends utterances as verifiable statements is to minimize the fact that speech actsare apprehended as actions. a speech acts apprehension model based both on the autopoietic organisms theoryand on the “interactional achievement” model is proposed.. Therefore, speech acts can be accounted as viableoperations in a determined discursive domain.
