Some conclusions for José María de Torrijos y Uriarte: más allá del cuadro de Gisbert (Madrid, Sílex Ediciones, 2021)
Abstract
Two years after the publication of my biography of José María de Torrijos, the work has received two reviews in academic journals, those by José Luis Agudín Menéndez and Francisco Miguel Martín Blázquez. Both authors have highlighted the absence of conclusions in this work and it is a fair criticism. This life of Torrijos supposes a review of what was my doctoral thesis, which did include a conclusive apparatus that I decided to leave out of the final work and that it is not my intention to recover at all. Therefore, the following notes are worth closing. I will focus on two questions, the first is to what extent José María Torrijos adapts to the figure of the romantic hero with whom he has been associated so many times, and the second refers to the role that truly corresponds to him in the history of revolutions. liberals.
