Pragmalinguistic contrast expressions of apology between Spanish and Chinese

Abstract
It is widely assumed that our patterns of speaking and the use of language are closely
related to the factors of sociocultural. Therefore, the aim of this article is to compare the formulas of apology most recognized in Spanish and in Chinese from the perspective of culture and pragmatics. It is evident that sociocultural plays a crucial role in the application of apology language both in the cases of Spanish in Iberian Peninsula and Chinese in Taiwan. This article will also examine the expressions of apology from the point of view of the contexts and the courtesy due to the distinct functions in both scopes. In addition, a comparison of the similarities and the differences of the usage of apology language is given in order to illustrate the specific features in each society. It can thus be argued that the sociocultural factors are considered the most significant in the communication with interlocutors who come from distinct culture.
