The language of soldiers

Abstract
This article tries to reflect upon the function, form, and meaning of a linguistic variety which is nearly ending. the language of the conscripts, those serving as mandatory military soldiers in Spain. This variety of language, which varies according to space and time, and which shares characteristics with the jargon used by youngsters, is used by the recruits to identify themselves as a group all the time serving. This special language reflects mainly the two obsessions of this group: the remaining time to serve, and the obligations imposed by the military situation.
