Pragmalingüística

About the Journal

Pragmalingüística, ISSN 1133-682X and ISSN-e 2445-3064, is the first national journal on pragmalinguistics. It is published annually and, from 2020, only in digital format.

It was founded in 1993 by the Research Group “Estudios de Pragmalingüística” (Studies of Pragmalinguistics), formed by members of the French and English Philology Department of the University of Cádiz, promoted and directed by Professor José Luis Guijarro Morales. In 1995, the edition of the journal became shared by two groups of the Philology Department of the aforementioned university: "Estudios de Pragmalingüística" and "Semaínein".

Pragmalingüística aims to disseminate studies within the field of linguistics, both theoretical and applied, and pragmatics, cognition, and discourse and targets researchers and professionals interested in these areas. The journal intends to act as a dissemination channel for the latest theoretical and methodological approaches developed within these fields.

The quality of this journal was acknowledged by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, FECYT, in the 4th Call for the Evaluation of the Editorial and Scientific Quality of Spanish Scientific Journals (2013), when this institution granted Pragmalingüística the FECYT Seal of Quality, acknowledging its editorial and scientific quality, in Madrid on 15th July 2014.

Pragmalingüística has renewed this FECYT Quality Seal in subsequent editions.

It is currently ranked in quartile 1 of the FECYT Ranking: Ranking of visibility and impact of Spanish scientific journals in Humanities and Social Sciences with FECYT Quality Seal, in the field of Linguistics (position 11 out of 67 in 2021 and position 18 out of 80 in 2022).
