Abstract
The aim of this research is to identify the capacities and difficulties shown by bachelors (aged 18) in the inquiry competence. In order to analyse the characteristics of inquiry competence, an assessment tool, NPTAI, has been designed on the basis of the Practical Test Assessment Inventory proposed by Tamir, Nussinovitz y Fridler. This tool has been used to analyse research works made by a group of high school science students and has enabled us to detect the aspects of scientific inquiry where students have the most difficulties. The recodification of results obtained with NPTAI has made it possible to establish an ordinal scale of bachelors’ inquiry levels or NCI.Keywords
