Health or business? Miraculous products and their advertising in the Cadiz press at the beginning of the 19th century
Abstract
Have you stopped to think about the role that advertising has played in the past centuries? With it, this work is an exercise to learn a little about the persuasive work of the so-called miraculous products in the Cadiz press at the beginning of the 19th century. An exercise to make known the uniqueness of yesterday and how we could find certain similarities in the present. And, in this sense, the illustrations will play a clarifying role, inviting us to imagine what it was like then; where they cohabited from real doctors to auxiliary toilets, to healers or false professionals. Medicines/polypharmaceuticals (ointments, potions, syrups or infusions) that had a double purpose: to cure and generate benefits.
