Abstract
Una de las mejores formas para que el proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje sea efectivo es hacer a nuestros alumnos protagonistas del mismo. Esta experiencia ha pretendido acercarlos al conocimiento del medio que les rodea, para lo cual se han realizado una serie de actividades que van desde la recolección de especies vegetales y su clasificación, hasta elaboración de fichas, encuestas etnobotánicas y diversas experiencias de laboratorio. Además, hemos utilizado textos atribuidos a Leonardo da Vinci sobre el uso dado a algunas especies vegetales comparándolo con su uso actual. Con todo ello hemos querido contribuir tanto a su alfabetización científica, como a desarrollar en ellos diversas actitudes: interés por proteger el medio que les rodea, trabajo cooperativo y respeto por diferentes formas de pensar.

Learn to know and respect the environment that surrounds us hand in hand with Leonardo da Vinci
The effectiveness of the teaching-learning process relies on the role played by the students as the main characters in this process. The experience shown in this work is focused on getting them closer to their environment. To do this different activities have been proposed such as gathering and classifying plants, writing index cards, making ethnobotanical inquiries, and laboratory experiences. As research work has also been done: different leonardo’s texts, related to the use of plants during his century, have been read. This information has been compared to the use of plants today. Apart from enhancing their interest in their environment other main objectives are the following: the improvement of their scientific behaviour, the cooperation with other students and the respectfulness with other ways of thinking.
